Green Gadgets, founded in 2012 and based in Sydney, is Australia's top supplier of refurbished electronics, specialising in B2C online sales and wholesale distribution. Known for excellent customer service, their strong online strategy attracts new customers and fosters loyalty. Recognising the challenges of buying quality electronics, Green Gadgets ensures a hassle-free shopping experience.  

Building on their strong online presence, they launched their affiliate program with Commission Factory as a new-to-channel initiative in early 2023 to further expand their reach, increase brand awareness, and ultimately boost revenue figures. Utilising advanced technology on the Grow technology plan, the team at Green Gadgets took the lead with most of its affiliate program management during its first year of activation, with Commission Factory providing supportive assistance throughout this period via the Lite service option. 

 

Challenge

Facing a slightly restricted budget for upcoming end-of-year sales activities, they turned to the affiliate channel for its cost-effective and low-risk nature. Solution

Implementation

Commission Factory’s Client Strategy Team collaborated closely with Green Gadgets to understand their objectives and goals for both the channel and the quarter which included increasing new customer acquisition, AOV, and sales revenue statistics.  

Together, the below strategic plan was developed to achieve and exceed these targets:

1) Revised Commission Rules -

A 5% commission for new customers was implemented for three cashback affiliates to grow their new customer database. 

2) Publisher Recruitment -

Eight new publishers were onboarded and activated during the package period to enhance customer reach, awareness, and increase market share. 

3) Exposure Campaigns -

Various exposure opportunities, including homepage features and edms, were secured across top-performing lower funnel partners to support consistent revenue generation and increased AOV.  

Additionally, tailored exposure campaigns with upper funnel partners, such as bloggers, were executed to build brand awareness and educate niche but highly engaged customer segments, particularly parents and families, further boosting new customer engagement and acquisition. 

It was ensured that exposure was secured with lower-funnel partners during key promotional periods to support performance uplift during the busiest times throughout the retail quarter, coupled with longer-tail campaigns with upper-funnel partners to foster effective brand awareness, education, and recognition initiatives. 

 

Results

The package delivered significant improvements across key performance metrics, highlighted below:

During this promotional period, the cashback vertical experienced substantial growth, with many of these partners ranking among the top-performing affiliates. This led to impressive uplifts in key performance metrics, including one partner generating a +48% increase in both AOV and revenue. Furthermore, there was a 10% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) rise in conversion rate from them, and an impressive earnings per click (ePC) uplift of over 200% QoQ. The overall success of the cashback vertical led to a focused effort on recruiting more affiliates from this sector to sustain and grow the program further, which has been a strategy for this current quarter.  

Moreover, Green Gadgets secured premium stock for their inventory, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. These high-end products have significantly increased the brand’s AOV and enabled them to expand partnerships within the loyalty and card-linked offers verticals, further diversifying their affiliate portfolio.
